Clubs and Associations The following meet regularly at the Science Museum: Blue Ridge Beekeepers Association: Beekeepers meet to exchange information on the third Thursday of each month. International Plastic Modelers Society, Roanoke Valley Chapter: Meetings are the second and fourth Thursdays of the month, 7-9 pm. Potential members are welcome. Roanoke Valley Astronomical Society: Meetings are the third Monday of the month, 7:30 pm, Fifth Floor. You do not need a telescope to participate. Roanoke Valley Mineral & Gem Society, Inc.: A non-profit organization promoting, through education and recreation, the study of mineralogy, crystallography, paleontology, geology and other allied earth sciences, as well as gemology and lapidary arts. Meetings are the second Thursday of each month, 7 pm. All are welcome. In addition, the club sponsors monthly field trips, an annual picnic and rock swap, and an annual mineral and gem show.
