In memorium: Phyllis Eanes
The funeral for long-time Science Museum volunteer Phyllis Eanes, who passed away Jan. 19 , is Saturday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Eanes family.
Born in 1915 in China to Presbyterian missionaries, Ms. Eanes taught special education and math in the Roanoke City school system and was awarded the Virginia Math Teacher of the Year in 1970. In retirement, she was involved in many civic and community activities including treasurer of the Roanoke City Sister Cities Committee and, of course, the Science Museum of Western Virginia.
We are grateful to her family for including the Science Museum for memorials.
The funeral will take place at 11 a.m. at the Abbey Chapel of Sherwood Memorial Park.
