HAUNTED LAB

Join our family-friendly Halloween event featuring:

Costume Contest at 6:30 pm each night

Categories are by age:  Infants and Tots (0-5 yrs), Kids (6-14 yrs), Teens and Adults (15+yrs), and Group Costumes (must be at least 2 people, any age range). Since this is a family-oriented event, please keep costumes “G” or “PG” rated. Winners of each of the individual categories receive a $10 gift certificate to the museum store.  Winners of the group category receive a $20 gift certificate to Benny Marconi’s.  Photos will be taken for promotional purposes, so releases will need to be signed by participants and/or their parents.

Evil Genius Science Demos

What madness is brewing in our Open Lab? Performances will be every 30 minutes starting at 7:15 (after the costume contest).

Spooky Snacks & Beastly Brew

Ghoul-aid punch, candy, raisins, and “monster mouths” (apples, marshmallows or raisins, caramel sauce).  Bottled water will also be available.

Gruesome Games

Zombie Ring Toss, Eyeball Pitch, Candy Cornhole and more ghastly games await. Each child gets a punch card, which is stamped when they win a game.  Punch cards can be redeemed for prizes in the museum store.  There will be prize bins for 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 stamps. Once the card is redeemed, they are welcome to play the games for fun, but there will be only one punch card per child.

Bizarre Bugs

Virginia Tech Entomology Club will be here Friday night, Oct. 25, with some of their creepy creatures, and our animal care staff will have fluorescing creatures in the Gem & Mineral gallery both nights.

Mechanized Monsters

The Roanoke Robotics club will be here Saturday night, Oct. 26, (and possibly Friday night as well) with autonomous robots.

Dr. Madblood Horrorshow

This is the haunted house portion of the event.  It will be in the Planetarium, so parents can decide if their child/children are able to handle it.  It will be “PG” to “PG-13” rated.

Purchase tix by Oct. 24: $6/member or $12/non-member.

After Oct. 24: $9/member or $15/non-member.
